Simple.  The more you make off your programming, the more you should be 
expected to think about this stuff.  The fact that someone who's program is 
FREE to most people has put any thought into it should cheered and applauded. 
 Especially considering how many corporations, with thousands of programmers 
and designers, making billions of dollars, never even worried about it.

You say that as if loyalty, friendship, and greatfulness are bad things.

Not that's it relevant, but I have several BBS door IGMs that are all free, 
come with free tech support, and are all year 2000 irrelevant.  I also run a 
24/7 BBS that provides free access to all users, and, until my feed quit, 
proveded free email to users.
Now ask me how much it's going to cost me to upgrade the setup I use to 
provide all these free services!
