Subject: New CCW and Brady alternative?
Howdy,
In light of the news about the ATF approving our new CCW brady alternative
thingy, I stopped by the Bellevue police last friday to get my existing CCW
renewed so that I can be current in terms of the not-waiting period. The
first thing that I was asked is why do I need to renew my licence and I
quote "what is wrong with waiting." I was asked this question many times
and after replying many times that I don't want to wait unless I have to (I
was very polite during this entire encidence), I was told that they will
not renew my CCW unless it is within 90 days of expiration.
Now here is my question: were there any provisions for existing CCW holders
in this law. I understand that we may need a new more thourough background
check, I have no problem with that. But to tell us that we can not exercise
our right-turned-priveladge because somebody does not feel like renewing my
not yet expired CCW, does not make any sense.
I really feel bad for the persons who received their CCW in June, since
they will have to wait for the entire 4-6 years to be able to enjoy buying
a gun and taking it home that day.
Any stories from other counties in the state? Is there anywhere a law that
says we can not renew our permit unless it is expired? Is there anything
WAC is doing in this regards?
Any feedback is much appreciated.
Thanks
