Hello everyone,
I've recently started trying out Telemate for Windows, v 1.10. While it is
mostly a fine program, I've found a couple of things with Zmodem transfers
that are quite annoying. I was wondering if anyone else has had these same
problems?
1. Autorecovery from a failed download. The online help says that Zmodem
will automatically continue on with a file download, provided that a)
the autorecovery option is set, and b) the keep aborted file option is
set. I have both set, and attempts to continue on have led to a new
file being created each time. What gives?
2. Numerous errors while trying to upload using Zmodem. Any attempts to
upload files to my local free-net results at least 200-300 errors for
each file. Once on my free-net, I view the files (if they're ASCII) to
check for errors, and find that the files are a complete mess. Since I
can't view binaries, I have no way to confirm that they are also getting
messed up; I can only assume they are. Uploading using the very much
slower Xmodem works fine, though.
Both of these problems are unique to this program (they also occurred on a
version 1.00 copy I tried out). My other telecomm program, Telegrafix's
RIPterm v 2.20.01, works perfectly in these matters. I have no other
telecomm programs to check my problems against.
If anyone else has had these problems, I'd appreciate hearing from them.
Am I doing something wrong with the Telemate configurations? Is there
something else I need to tweak that's not mentioned in the online
documents? Are these bugs?
For the most part, I really like what Telemate offers with this product.
Being able to communicate under Windows while working on other things is a
big help for me. It's something that I can't do with RIPterm running under
DOS (and it crashes every time I attempt to run it under Windows!).
However, I can't justify sending in a registration fee if I can't transfer
files correctly using Zmodem.
Any insight into my problems is appreciated. Thanks.
