-=> Quoting Steven Horn to Jim Weller <=- JW> Some echoes are still thriving. Cooking has about 30 regulars, and JW> averages 40 messages a day. We have just had two new members show JW> up. We even meet for a picnic once a year. And no spam, except JW> the canned pork kind. SH> Let me know where the picnic is. :-) They hold the main one along the Atlantic seaboard every fall. It's been held in different spots from New England to Alabama. The one year I went, it was in Montreal (only Canadian one to date). There's usually at least one smaller one on the west coast in the summer time. Plus there was one in France organized by the Europeans with half a dozen Americans in attendance. The three Australians all live in Adelaide and meet at least weekly but that hardly counts. But on two occasions they have hosted parties for the French guy and one of the Americans when they visited. The RIME Cuisine people do the same thing, generally meeting in one of the southern states late in the fall. RIME of course is dead but 12 of the hard core have a mail list of their own and stay in touch. The FIDO Cooking mods have a mail list contingency plan and a list of email addresses in case FIDO implodes some day. Cheers Jim, in Yellowknife ... We gotta hang together or hang separately. ___ Blue Wave/386 v2.30 --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 379/1 633/267 |
