Hi, Brenton.

BV> BV> Hmmm...I got the "junk fax" for Delphi this
weekend. Delphi is the
BV> BV> Turbo Pascal equivalent of VB and it is supposed to be a ball-tearer.
BV> FM>Yeah, I want it - how come you got that junk mail & I didn't?

BV> Dealer info.

I ended up getting the invitation in the mail 2 days before the
presentation. And then Borland lost power for a day, so no fax and very
hard to get through on the phone. The demo was well done given that they
didn't have any real PCs to set it up on. Only thing they missed (that
they admitted too) was the sound track accompanying the video clip.

BV> BV> Delphi will initially have an RRP of $350 for the CD version.
BV> BV> Upgrades from TP will RRP at $280
BV> FM> Hmmm, maybe it'll be cheaper for Borland Connection members.

BV> I'm not sure. I didn't get any info on that. No doubt you will be
BV> hearing from Borland direct. Then again with their current problems,
BV> perhaps they can't afford the postage. It might be time to call them.

I shall. Monday.

BV> BV> There aint much margin in anything nowadays but the dealer price
BV> BV> will shave a few bucks off, if anyone is interested. Hey Frank, how
BV> V> many TP disks do you have ? The RRP will increase in 90 days to be $795
BV> FM> One full legal set for Dos, and one full legal set for Windows. Of
BV> FM> course I'm a bit wary about the initial release of any software, but
BV> FM> this one sounds *so* good.

BV> I thought so too. Shit, I might even have to learn Pascal. As you
BV> only need to upgrade one of them, I can do you a "deal" if you want
BV> them both upgraded :)

Have you done that "deal"? I'm happy to upgrade both.

BV> BL> I haven't looked at using DLLs yet, but I suspect that this will
BV> BL> let it do any bloody thing at all, if I ever get around to it.
BV> BV> It isn't hard at all. All you need to do is to prototype the Function
BV> BV> in the declaration section of GLOBAL.BAS, then you can call it just
BV> BV> like any other function.
BV> FM> It's probably even easier to write the actual DLL in TP for Windows,
BV> FM> I might just make boB a DLL & send him the source to drool over.

BV> I had a feeling that you might have a tendency towards sadism :)

Should be a piece of piss, although I haven't actually written a DLL
before.

Regards, FIM.
