Hi Valerie,
It sounds as though your new responsibility will be exciting as well as an
educational experience for you!!!!

Oh you get to play with all those lovely quilting fabrics!!!! Now that can be
a lot of fun but I bet you won't be sitting in the middle of the floor like I
do in the quilt shoppes ..
Of course fabrics but then I don't know if you handle that part of the
ordering or not... if you have any input on manufactures of the various
fabrics there are any number of fabrics that many quilters are always looking
for... I for one am alway looking for 1930 reproduction fabrics.. the Aunt
Grace line by RJR or the Moda line.
As far as supplies... we alway need rotary cutters, mats, needles, threads,
patterns, acrylic rulers, quilting pins, hoops, frames, basting guns/tacks,
safety pins, fabric markers, quilt stencils, various pattern books, water
soulable thread, binder clips, battings of different weights and types . Of course these
are just some of the items I can think of off the top of my head... You may
even want to consider some of the quilting videos that are available. There
are always new and exciting items coming out on the market to make quilting
much more exciting and fun... and some items are not that easy to use too. So
it will go right back to the preference of the individual quilter... but
these are just some of the basics that have helped to make quilting a
pleasure for me!
I am sure that in no time at all you will be doing just fine... watching
trends in the magazine sections that come into your store on quilting can
give you a lot of ideas on new product information.
And that is another thing... the monthly/bi-monthly or special magazines
that come out on quilting... so many stores do not carry them or have them in
very limited supplies... I have already spend I cant tell you how much time
looking for the current Better Homes and Garden's Quilt Sampler that came out
a couple of weeks ago and cannot find it anywhere... ...
Best of luck as you learn... maybe we will make a quilter out of you yet!!!
Julia
