The program doesn't *compile* when you do this, or it doesn't *run* ?

If it doesn't compile, then the problem is with Borland's C++ compiler.
If you have version 1.x, then find someone with version 2.x and see
whether Borland has fixed the problem. If it hasn't, then junk
Borland C++ and use someone else's C++ compiler.

If it doesn't run, then you need to increase your stack size, which
you can do on the command line to TLINK with the -S option (type TLINK
at the command line for on-line help).
