   You don't carry the EFS key.  You only need the EFS key as the =
recovery agent.  If someone can log in under your personal account they =
can access the data directly.  The archived EFS key should not be kept =
with the computer.

   You are in control of the balance between independence, security, and =
convenience of your machine.  If you wish you can require a password = just
to boot your machine.  Your computer is more security but you may = find it
inconvenient.

    What about stopping the bad guys who steal your laptop from getting =
your private business
  information?  We're back to using PGP for data protection on stolen =
laptops.    Storing the EFS key
  off the laptop is useless as a protection measure - if you have to =
carry the floppy with the EFS key
  to access your data, it will be stolen with the laptop.
