     You know, this is a BIT backwards. Most editors, even
     non-profit ones, do NOT ask for a donation of money in
     addition to the donation of the story. Even the most
     humble, home-based publications will generally offer the
     writer at least a couple of free issues. I think your
     "friend" needs a good shake!
