YOU may practice in a lovely holistic enviornment where every person who
presents for a "mental" or "emotional" problem gets a complete physical
with lab tests.  Around here, the schoolteachers without any knowledge
at all of medicine or nursing refer kids to social workers with less
knowledge of hard physical sciences for remedial drugs when a behavior
problem emerges.
They should all be hauled in for practicing medicine without a license,
and the few doctors who listen to them should be severely disciplined by
their own medical organizations.

Read above.  Then go out into the real world and find out just how often
this is done.
At the present time there are two girls I am aware of who have been
considered for Ritalin by teachers who are inadequate.  Other teachers
and their parents and health care practitioners don't agree, thank God.
And how many times have you gone to a new doctor or other health care
practitioner lately and had your genetic inheritance investigated?
I can assure you that this isn't being done routinely around here.
