          My grandmother used to say "You have to eat a peck of dirt
before you die."  Medical researchers are now telling us the immune
system needs something to practise on & they attribute the rise in the
incidence of leukemia to modern standards of cleanliness.  There is also
some concern that the overuse of anti- bacterial agents has a similar
result to overuse of antibiotics, in that we are encouraging the
development of resistant varieties of germs.

          I think ye olde folk wisdom may be worth paying attention to....  ;-)
