-=> Alan Hess took a called strike three for saying to All <=-
AH> Mike Mussina retired the first 25 Cleveland batters he faced, and was
AH> two outs away from the first perfect game in Orioles' history.
AH> Unfortunately, he threw a 1-1 fastball to Sandy Alomar, who ripped it
AH> to left (the only hard-hit ball of the game off Moose) for a single to
AH> end the perfecto and the no-no. Mussina didn't lose his concentration -
AH> he whiffed the next two batters to end the one-hitter.
Near perfect ain't bad! Too bad I missed that!
Anybody know if a perfect game was ever broken up with 2 outs in the
ninth? I know people have lost no-hitters with 2 outs in the ninth, but a
perfect game???
