I think you're really on to something. Keep 'em in grade 5 until they learn
what we want them to learn, when we want them to learn it, and how we want
them to learn it. After all, we're the experts. I find that if a student
refuses to master the skills I've chosen for him to learn, a few years at the
same grade level, presented with the same materials, methods, etc., really
straightens him out.
The real beauty of your philosophy is that it no only applies to the child
with a behavior disorder, but is an effective method of meeting the needs of
children with severe learning disabilities.
