DC>> As the Swiss "native German speaker" was most likely also DC>> fluent in Italian and French, I probably would notice a DC>> difference. DD> The Swiss couple I associate with only appear to speak German (and DD> English). Judging from my (albeit limited) experience, your Swiss couple is rather typical for the Swiss. Two thirds of them have German as their native language and the remaining third is almost equally divided between French and Italian (and then there's less than one percent of retoromans). Most of the Swiss people, that I've come in contact with, actually do not speak more than one language, however strange that may sound if you are being told they are supposed to be a trilingo (yeah, yeah, quad then, to take the minute minority into account) people. -- FidoNet in your news reader: news://felten.dyndns.org For full access, register at: http://felten.dyndns.org/join.html ---* Origin: news://felten.dyndns.org (2:203/2) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 203/2 0 20/11 106/1 2000 633/267 |
