BV> Did you say that you were now listening to Mix FM in the mornings ? BV> I've got it on in the background today and I can't believe it but BV> they are broadcasting the location of radar traps and speed cameras. BG> Dunno about NSW, but up here it's illegal to do that (as one local BG> station found to their dismay a couple of years ago). I was quite stunned when I heard it. Sure is a good way to increase the ratings though :) BV> Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it an offence for a driver of BV> a vehicle to warn another vehicle that there is a speed trap ahead? BG> Yep, but it's not an offence to "test" your headlights occasionally. Yeah, but I don't think I'd bother with that line. I'd just cop it. FWIW, I will warn on-coming traffic if there is a radar trap in their direction of traffic flow, but I won't warn them if it is a RBT. BV> If this is the case (which I'm sure it is, courtesy of some BV> new legislation recently), then how on earth can they broadcast BV> this sort of information over the radio ? BG> The short story is that they can't (or shouldn't). That's what I thought. BG> There is a pub on the Cunningham Hwy at Goodna, ..[chomp].. BG> Took the coppers ages to suss that one out too. |-) I like that. I'll bet it did wonders for his patronage too :) BV> BTW, it's been a long time since I've listened to Mike Carlton. BV> Boy, is he one _sick_ puppy :) BG> Was he still pissed? Sounded sober to me. Regards, Brenton @EOT: ---* Origin: TestPoint (3:711/934.7) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
