Here's a reprint of another story submitted in 2002. Do you have any
interesting stories to share?

I'm always amazed at what our readers collect... The whole story is way to
long to print here, so I will just give the short version of how we began
our collection of real (not repros, miniatures or Port-a-potties)
outhouses. My wife, Sandy, thought it would be a great addition to put an
outhouse in back of our 1910 vintage home in the old part of Sunnyvale, CA.
A few blocks from our house an old farm was about to be developed and she
just had to get the Dooley there. We met the owner at a party and he said
he didn't remember a Donniker on the ranch, but we were sure welcome to
have it if we wanted it. So a few days later, with a bit of help and a
flat bed trailer, we moved our first Groaner to our back yard. It was only
when the property was being bulldozed a few weeks later that we discovered
it was a different farm than the one we had permission for.

A few years later we sold the house and moved to small town central
California. We wanted to take our stolen outhouse with us, but the new
owners liked the conversation piece as much as we did, so we had to leave
it and start over to get the 11 that we now have spotted around our small
rural property. We are still looking for more. ...Doug Hoiles A., CA

Doug, if you're still a subscriber, please send us an update and let us
know how many outhouse you have now!
