JM>That is one thing I left out of the original post - SERVICE. We have a

Hi John,
I enjoyed reading your comments! I agree the service is very key. I have
found advertisements to be very important. I have found that memberships
in Networks that are in line with your bbs focus are important as well.
Back in 1995 Online Access (when they did a lot of BBS Spotlights) did a
issue on Specialty boards. One that focused on Religion and one that
focused on Cultures. Be a part of the two Networks that were covered in
that issue, my board was mentioned twice. Hence, one aspect of
memberships is very key.
Coincidently I didn't realize how my position as moderator of the K12Net
(parents, teachers, students k through 12) played an important role as
well. Where ever K12Net info is found and there is a list of Moderators,
by system was listed as as moderator of k12.ed.business (Fido and
UseNet).
Honing in further on "advertisments", I guess it is not realized how
important "offline" advertisments are. I often think of the people who
know me, but don't know my involvement in computers. They may not be
ready to go online yet, but when they are, I would think that if they
knew I was involved in this, they would consider me and my home office
business.
As I go other this and other aspects, they are just other things that
make you go hmmmmmm...(smile)
Mike
