Becasue 5 watts is more than enough for Entry level introduction on 6
meters. You would have to go to the area of 500 watts to make any
significant improvemnet in Recieved signal on the other end.There is
an Excelent article on page 53 of the August Popular Communications
magazine Titled "Linear Amplifiers: Who needs them". Doubling or
even tripling Power Output dosen't measure up to it's reputation.
Antenna and atmospheric conditions far more determine if you make that
elusive contact than Power output. Check it out.
The additional $100 or so would price the unit out of their Target
market so Cost was also part the reason.
