DCT Productions Update                                              17-May-98

* DCTList v0.10 Released *
DCTList v0.10 has been released and can be obtained via the various methods
explained later in this message.  Please allow a week or so before attempting
a FREQ to allow time for the support sites to obtain the files.  
I was initially just going to fix the bugs in v0.05, but I ended up rewriting
almost all of the code, so although the user interface remains very similar,
the bulk of the changes are internal.  
Some of DCTList's more popular features are outlined below.
 -þ- Supports both DORINFOx.DEF and DOOR.SYS allowing it to be run on
     virtually any bulletin board system.
 -þ- Lightbar selector.
 -þ- Users may upload and view ANSI ads for each BBS.
 -þ- Users may download the BBS list in five different formats, including a
     new Netscape Bookmark format.
 -þ- Language support.
 -þ- SysOp-definable user interface.
 -þ- Problem users can be locked out.
 -þ- Optional user censor (allowing you to filter out swearing).
 -þ- Users may edit/delete BBSs they have created.
 -þ- The BBS list format may be configured.
 -þ- Fully integrated powerful search mode.  The user interface is exactly
     the same in search mode as it is in normal listing mode.
 -þ- Full user logging (even the SysOp-User chats are logged!).
 -þ- Internal SysOp-User full-screen chat mode.
 -þ- Even creates alternating logoff screens to show to your users!
 -þ- It's FREEWARE!  No unregistered beeps, delays, or disabled features!

* DCT Productions Support Sites *
Many of my support sites have vanished, so I've decided to seek a more
reliable method of distributing my software.  The following methods are
currently available to obtain the software.

      You can download all DCT Productions software from the following places
      on the Internet:

  > E-Mail Request
      Send a message to  and in the message body, enter
      "get filename.ext" or "get " where  is the same
      as the magic name used to FREQ the file.  You will get the file back,
      UUEncoded (possibly in multiple messages).
  > File Request
      Yep, you can still do the good old FREQ as explained in the OTHER.DCT
      file that I include in all my releases.

* DCT Productions Mailing List and FidoNet Echo *
As some of you may know, there is now a DCTPROD echo on the FidoNet backbone
where you can ask questions about the software and post bug reports, etc.
Also, after trying a few servers, I now have a reliable server for the
mailing list.  Subscription information is explained later.
The mailing list has also been integrated with the FidoNet echo, which means
that when you post a message in the echo, it will also appear in the mailing
list and vice versa.
To subscribe to the DCT Productions mailing list, send a message to
 with the message body "subscribe dctprod".
