Hi Eugene,
(Friday April 24 1998 13:45) Eugene S Elizarov to Ted Menks about: EXECUTION
PREFERENCE
TM>> If Eugene was right, the order of execution would have been: BAT, BTM,
TM>> COM, EXE
ESE> Sorry, but my information 'bout %subj was too old :( It seems it was
ESE> right for old versions of DOS (3.+..4.01)
Was BAT run before COM and EXE with those old versions? Weird! :)
ESE> Now I got the series of tests : in my dirctory it were 4 files
ESE> 1.btm, 1.bat, 1.exe and 1.com. At the DOS prompt I said "1" and saw
ESE> the screen answers. Then delete "runned" (am I right?) file and type
ESE> "1" again... Tests were made under 4DOS in "pure" PCDOS 7.0, W95's
ESE> (OSR2) dos box and OS/2's (WARP 4) dos box. (Now I haven't older DOS
ESE> versions %) No difference!
So, that means all systems use the same order. Good! That's how it should be.
:)
TM>> I would like the following order: BTM, BAT, COM, EXE ;-)
ESE> Real order now is COM, EXE, BTM, BAT.
Yeah, I know. I'm glad we all have the same info now . But it would
have been much nicer if BTM and BAT were run first... ;-)
Keep it up,
