subject: NASCAR-WCS: Michigan II: Dodge Saturday quotes

RUSTY WALLACE (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Intrepid)

NOTE: Wallace was
the fastest driver in happy hour practice today, and was the third
fastest in the first practice this morning. He will make his 40th career
start at Michigan Int'l Speedway tomorrow. Wallace ranks second in wins
(five), top-fives (15) and laps led (847) among active drivers at this
track. Wallace's average finish at Michigan (12.8) ranks fifth among all
active drivers.

"Well, Michigan is a great place to win, no doubt about that. But, with
the losing streak that I've got going on right now I don't give a crap
where I win to tell you the truth. Whether it's at Roger's (Penske)
track, or whoever's track, I just want to win. I'm tired of being out
of victory lane. It's embarrassing. But, we were quickest in happy hour
today, we were third quick in the second practice session and our Dodge
is running strong. We've got a hell of an engine in this car, and I know
we can win at this racetrack. We sure can."

"We've been so close all year long. I don't think I've went this long in
my life without a race victory. We've been so close so many times, but
we'll get it. I know we'll get it. I'm determined as hell to get it, and
we'll see if we can't pull it off this weekend."

"There's a lot of things you've got to figure out and adapt to nowadays.
There's a lot of weird things going on in NASCAR right now. The setups
in the cars are stranger than I've ever seen in my life. Heck, we're
out on the racetrack this weekend and cars have six inches of clearance
between the top of the tires and the fender, and the tires are running
up and hitting the fenders. But you've got to adjust to all of the
strange happenings going on in NASCAR right now -- strategy racing, hard
tires, imbalanced cars, all of this stuff. It's different than anything
I've ever been accustomed to in my whole career, and I've got to adjust
to it. We're getting there pretty quick."

"Strategy racing will be the key at Michigan again. Whoever gets their
car up front and wins the fuel mileage race will be in good shape. We
did a lot of fuel mileage testing in happy hour today, so we feel like
we're up in the game there. You've got to run at least 50 laps to get in
the fuel windows. It'll defintiely be strategy racing again. I'm not so
sure that the fastest car will win. I think the car that gets out front
is probably going to be able to stay there awhile."

"We brought out car No. 51 this weekend. It's the car we had here in the
spring, and it's one of our better high-downforce cars. It's a really
good hot-rod, and I'm really happy with it."

CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI (No. 43 Cheerios Dodge Intrepid)

NOTE: Fittipaldi
will start seventh in Sunday's GFS Marketplace 400, marking the
best qualifying effort of his nine-race Winston Cup Series career.
Fittidpaldi made his fourth career WC start in the spring race at
Michigan this year, where he finished running 35th.

"We feel pretty good about tomorrow. Things went very well in the
first session. I'm pretty happy with everything, especially since we
were running on old tires. In happy hour we had a couple of mechanical
problems. I only did about eight or 10 laps. We need to get these
glitches out of the way, and I think we're going to be good tomorrow."

"I definitely think things are a little less difficult now that we're
coming back here for the second time. We have another car that has a
little bit more overall grip because of downforce. We've also made
some small improvements in our power plant, so that was reflected in
qualifying yesterday."
