>But you don't understand... It's the TRUTH! hehehe
I think I do. It is good to be in a messaging session with others who
think for themselves.
>Ferinstance... I pulled in 1658 messages today from 170 noisegroups.
>Of those messages, I would say that over half of them are nothing but SPAM!
>But, I am getting my filters setup better. That number is down by over
>300% what I pulled in yesterday and the day before... And the previous
>ones were 90% SPAM, so I am getting somewhere.
>Before too long, I am afraid my filter is going to look like *.*.*.*.*.*.*.*
>I wonder how many USEFUL items I am actually NOT getting because of the
>filters I have set. Kinda sad.
yes, it is quite sad. The days when one could read with peace and quiet
on the internet are disappearing to the noise of SPAM. In amateur SPAM
is a group of radio operators one can respect. SPAM stands for The
Society for the Preservation of Amplitude Modulation. As such it is an
interesting group to hear from and about. However, SPAM on the internet
is at best disgusting. My provider fines SPAMers $200 per message which
the user flags to the abuse department. It is a practice I applaud. It
is good to see someone doing something about the noise on the net. I
hope you have much continued success with those filters. It is tough
that you will miss some of the messages you might have wished to
receive. Let me know how the filtering works out.
