| subject: | NHRA: Brainerd: Troy Coughlin Saturday summary |
Troy will start from the no. 5 spot Troy Coughlin and his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier ended up in the No. 5 position after two full days of qualifying for the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. In the third qualifying session Troy posted a run of 6.972 at 19 mph. The set up was on the aggressive side and the car spun all the way down the track. Troy remained in the No. 3 position. "I watched the run my brother (Jeg Jr) made it front of me and saw how his car responded," explained Troy. "I knew that our cars were set up the same and that I would be in for the same type of run. We were also too aggressive down low and spun the tire. Fortunately we were able bring the starting line rpm down so it wasn't as aggressive. I guess we just found the line we don't want to cross over on race day." In the final qualifying session Troy laid down a 6.932 at 200.20 mph. The run moved him into the No. 5 qualifying position. "When you stub your toe it doesn't mean you fall down," said Troy. "Our team rebounded well and showed that we are ready to play on race day. Bryan, Ed and Tim are working great together. The success that we have had through qualifying is because of teamwork and now we need to focus on having a solid showing on race day." Troy Coughlin and his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier will face off against Scott Geoffrion in the opening round. --- http://www.motorsport.com -- your source for motorsport news on the Internet --- Synchronet 3.10L-Win32 NewsLink 1.43 --- SBBSecho 2.00-Win32* Origin: There Can Only Be 1 http://www.tcob1.net (2:263/950) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 261/38 140/1 106/2000 633/267 |
