Seriously, though, I do appreciate your answers to others - I'm just
getting started with C/C++, and would have been asking exactly those
questions myself.

You might want to take the time to write up a short FAQ you can post
as these things come up; I'm doing that now for some questions I
keep answering in comp.os.os2.networking.tcp-ip.
