WK> GM>> JE> Shipping costs as compared to local (US) costs.

WK> GM>>And what are the shipping costs from Australia for a package
WK> GM>>weighing only a few ounces?

WK> GM>>Or were you just guessing it would be too expensive?

WK> GM>>If you telephone the company, they usually can tell you EXACTLY
WK> GM>>how much the mailing costs will be, then if it's not too much you
WK> GM>>can order the goods.

WK> JE> Greg, I once was going to send some used memory chips to Canada.
WK> JE> Ended up the postage was more than the used memory chips were worth
WK> JE> without even considering the possible duties.

WK> JE> A Telephone call to NZ or Au would make it even worse!

WK> JE> Don't get me wrong. I'd have absolutely no objection to doing
WK> JE> business there - except for the excess costs as compared to
WK> JE> here.

WK>The only item I've ever ordered from Australia was a pre-programmed pic for my
WK>warp13 programmer. This was before the firmware upgrades became downloadable
WK>from Newfound Electronics' web site. It was mailed in a small padded envelope,
WK>and arrived in less than 1 week from the order date. I paid around 7 USD for
WK>it, shipping included. Seems like the stamp on the evelope had a value of about
WK>1 USD.

WK>I don't know about larger items, but for items small enough to be handled as a
WK>letter, shipping from Australia to US is pretty trivial. And when you order
WK>online, no phone call is needed.

A friend of mine ordered two programs from Australia (I think).
Supposed to be shipped on CD. The site said about ten days for delivery.
Took almost a month. Ironically he had just send an e-mail inquiring as
to why the CDs hadn't arrived, when less than an hour later they were in
his mailbox!

Paying for the download plus being mailed one CD with the 2 small
programs on it was: - $67.90 Paying
for just the CD download - $54.95

$12.95 Doesn't seem trivial in my book - especially when it took almost
a month!

All USD.
