subject: NCTM conference in San Diego

-> > my California neighbor to the South. (I was just in > San Diego a
-> few weeks ago for the NCTM national conference. Weather > was pretty
-> crummy and overcast, though.)
-> Crummy???? Overcast???? When was this??? Or maybe I should ask,
-> "where" in San Diego were you?" Out here in Poway (where I live now),
-> I can't remember the last overcast and crummy day. They've all been
-> sunny, and rather unseasonably warm.
It was at the San Diego Convention Center, so it was on the bay. I guess
the dates were something like April 23 or so?
-> How was the conference?
I only attended on Saturday (it was Thurs-Sun, although the Sunday
sessions were mostly limited to closing keynote speeches ending before
12 noon), but I got a lot of good info.
I mostly attended computer and calculator related sessions, since I am
in charge of the technology proposal for my math department.
I attended a really good session on the Internet and the Web and got a
long list of URL's related to math and education. This really helps,
because right now I am setting up a Web account for our math dept. As a
matter of fact, I will be down there on Saturday (tomorrow) working on
setting up our Web page. I've been having a fair amount of trouble with
the connections to our Service Provider and the modem and the baud rate
and data transfers, but I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel
and will finally get something accomplished tomorrow. Keep your fingers
crossed.
