| subject: | OS/2 Performance |
A creature called Matthew Shanahan screamed at All: MS> I run OS/2 Warp and find that the performance is quite MS> disappointing. Is there no other solution other than running MS> 16 megs of memory? I run Word for Windows 6.0 as I do not MS> really know what sorts of MS> applications are good and available in OS/2 as yet. Any MS> suggestions? I find IBM Works quite disappointing. It is all MS> right if you have just come from a typewriter, but if you MS> have come from Word for Windows 6.0, it is a bit of a joke. Word for Windoze 6.0 is an extremely slow, bloated, waste of space. I liked 2.0, 6.0 was just bad. I use Lotus AmiPro for OS/2, and it works great. As for Word, that's about the performance you ought to expect from it. MS> Being new to OS/2 (and coming from Windows), I was wondering MS> what the best programmes were for OS/2 for word processing MS> and desktop publishing (native OS/2 applications). For quite MS> some time, i have used Word for Windows 6.0 quite happily. MS> Is there anything that compares to it in the OS/2 circles? INMHO, AmiPro is just as good as Word 6.0. Sure, there are somethings you can do in each that you can do in the other, but they all do the same: act as a word processor. As for DTP, I haven't found anything good yet.
