subject: ALMS: Dyson Racing has front row at Mosport

By Nancy Schilke - Motorsport.com

The battle between the two LMP900 Audi R8s and Dyson Racing's two LMP675
Lolas heated up the cooler temperatures today at Mosport International
Raceway. James Weaver's best lap at 1:07.906 put him and Butch Leitzinger
on the pole for Sunday's Toyota Grand Prix of Mosport.

Andy Wallace and Chris Dyson will start next to their team car, Wallace
sealed the first Dyson Racing front row with a time of 1:08.468.

JJ Lehto won the Audi battle by placing the Champion Racing LMP900 first in
class with his best lap at 1:08.853. Lehto and Johnny Herbert will start
third overall.

Team Joest Audi will start fourth overall, second in LMP900 class with Frank
Biela's time at 1:09.343. Marco Werner shares the driving duties with
Biela.

Oliver Gavin put the No. 4 Corvette Racing on the pole for the GTS class
with a time of 1:14.417, he and co-driver Kelly Collins will start
overall.

The GTS top four were separated by only 0.698 seconds. Prodrive Ferrari
No. 88 driven by Peter Kox will start second with a time of 1:14.788
followed by the No. 80 team car with Jan Magnussen at the wheel in today's
session. Kox and Tomas Enge along with Magnussen and David Brabham would
like to topple the Corvette at the end of the two hour and forty-five minute
endurance race on Sunday.

Ron Fellows posted the fourth best time at 1:15.115 in the No. Corvette
Racing team car, he and Johnny O'Connell are the Mosport GTS defending
champs.

GT pole went to Alex Job Racing's No. 24 Porsche, Jorg Bergmeister sat the
fast lap at 1:19.441. Bergmeister and Timo Bernhard's main competitors are
their own team mates, Sascha Maassen and Lucas Luhr who will start second in
the No.23 with a time of 1:19.452.

Marc Lieb's first time at Mosport turned a fast lap at 1:20.053 in the
Orbit Racing Porsche, he and co-driver Peter Baron will start from third.

The Ferrari Maserati of Ontario will start fourth on the GT grid with a time of
1:20.634 turned by Mauro Baldi. Andrea Bertolini will co-drive with Baldi
in the Ferrari 360 Modena.

A red flag in the opening laps of the GTS/GT qualifying session stopped the
clock to allow the drivers to have equal time to set the best lap. The
session was stopped when Domenico Schiattarella crashed into one of the many
tire walls at the exit three. The Team Olive Garden Ferrari driver was
checked and released at the medical care center, he does have a sore left
side. Prior to the accident, Schiattarella set a time of 1:16.550 placing
the car seventh on the grid if the team gets the damaged Ferrari repaired.
