Brenton, at 07:33 on Tue, Mar 21 1995, you wrote to Bob Lawrence ... BV> Did you say that you were now listening to Mix FM in the mornings ? BV> I've got it on in the background today and I can't believe it but BV> they are broadcasting the location of radar traps and speed cameras. Dunno about NSW, but up here it's illegal to do that (as one local station found to their dismay a couple of years ago). BV> Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it an offence for a driver of BV> a vehicle to warn another vehicle that there is a speed trap ahead? Yep, but it's not an offence to "test" your headlights occasionally. |-) BV> If this is the case (which I'm sure it is, courtesy of some BV> new legislation recently), then how on earth can they broadcast BV> this sort of information over the radio ? The short story is that they can't (or shouldn't). There is a pub on the Cunningham Hwy at Goodna, and it has an immense rotating Carlton sign on its roof. That stretch of road is notorious for radar traps, and until recently, it was an acknowledged fact that if the sign was rotating, there were no traps about, but if there were, the publican would turn of the sign's motor. Took the coppers ages to suss that one out too. |-) BV> BTW, it's been a long time since I've listened to Mike Carlton. BV> Boy, is he one _sick_ puppy :) Was he still pissed?
