Archipelago/Motorola driver Herta to start 13th at Kentucky

SPARTA, Ky. (Aug. 16, 2003) -- Bryan Herta will start 13th in tomorrow's
Belterra Casino Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway. Herta lapped the 1.5-mile oval in the
#27 Archipelago/Motorola Dallara/Honda/Firestone at 216.854 miles per hour.

Herta and the Archipelago/Motorola crew worked on the car's race setup during
today's practice sessions to ensure a fast car for tomorrow. Experience
may play in to
Herta's hands tomorrow as he won at a very similar track, Kansas Speedway, in July.

Two-time defending Indy Racing League IndyCar SeriesTM champion Sam
Hornish Jr. won the MBNA Pole Award with a speed at 219.614 miles per hour. Chip
Ganassi Racing' Scott Dixon was the second quickest in today's qualifying, logging a
best lap at 219.358 miles per hour. Helio Castroneves will start third
after his lap of
219.309 miles per hour. Herta's teammate Tony Kanaan will start 11th in the Team 7-
Eleven machine after running a lap of 217.453 miles per hour, while teammate Dan
Wheldon will start on the outside of Herta, qualifying 14th with a speed of
216.709 miles
per hour.

The 200-lap Belterra Casino Indy 300 will air live on ABC Sports at 2 p.m. (EDT)
tomorrow. The half-hour Indy Racing 2Day will air live at 12 p.m. (EDT) on ESPN2.

Bryan Herta, #27 Archipelago/Motorola Dallara/Honda/Firestone

"The Archipelago/Motorola car gave me two good laps. We tried some different
gearing strategies on the different laps and that is all we had. I think
we have a really
good car for tomorrow and that seems to be the pattern this year for us --
we qualify just
okay, but move to the front during the race."

Kyle Moyer, Team Manager, Archipelago/Motorola

"It is just a regular race weekend for us. We are more worried about our race
car, so we spend a lot of time in practice on that. When we get into
qualifying Bryan
seems to be able to get a little more out the car and even with that we
qualified mid-
pack, but we'll be okay for tomorrow."
