Kanaan to roll from 11th in Team 7-Eleven
machine at Kentucky

SPARTA, Ky. (Aug. 16, 2003) -- Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan turned a quick lap
of 217.453 miles per hour in qualifying to grab the 11th starting position
for tomorrow's running of
the Belterra Casino Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway.
        
Kanaan, who enters the race with a seven-point lead in the Indy Racing League (IRL)
IndyCar^Ù Series point standings, also leads the IRL in top-five finishes
(eight) and is tied with
Gil de Ferran for the most top 10s at nine after 11 of 16 events.
        
Sam Hornish won his first pole of the 2003 IndyCar Series season Saturday with a top
speed of 219.614 miles per hour. Hornish was followed by Scott Dixon (219.358), Helio
Castroneves (219.309), de Ferran (219.297) and Greg Ray (218.622)
        
Tomorrow's race at Kentucky is slated to begin at 2 p.m. (EDT) and will air
live on ABC.

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN DALLARA/HONDA/FIRESTONE:
        
"When we came here and tested the racetrack, it wasn't good. The
Kentucky Speedway
people did a great job to try to improve it and they did, but now the whole
setup has changed, so
we struggled a little bit in qualifying. But, it's nothing we can't repair
for tomorrow. We worked a
lot on race setup this morning because is really what is important."

KIM GREEN, PRESIDENT, ANDRETTI GREEN RACING:
        
"Certainly, we're a little disappointed. This track is very
challenging -- maybe more
challenging than any of the other 1.5-mile tracks because of the bumps.
We've been working
hard on a comfortable car with our race setup, but we thought we had a
pretty good car for
qualifying, too, so I'm a little bit disappointed we didn't qualify any
better. But, it's obviously a
long race and I'm pretty confident we can move forward during the race and,
with good pit stops
and good strategy, we can be in the hunt at the end."
