There is indeed a demo version of Delphi. It's named Delphi Primer and can be 
found on several CD-Roms that come with magazines.
I have Delphi 1.0 and 2.0 but uses the Primer version on a laptop without 
CD-Rom. There are of course a lot of limits in the Primer version, but you 
can get a nice impression of Delpi. It even includes an uninstall.
