Well, I've bit my tongue (both on and off my computer) for the past week and
a half, and the day has finally arrived that the New York Mets have SURPASSED
the New York Yankees...
So, my comments about the Mets: Their starting pitching has been, simply,
unbelievably. I'm not sure of the exact rank, but I believe they have the 4th
best MLB ERA (starting staff only) -- With names like Rick Reed, Marck Clark,
and Armando Reynoso, it is truly amazing.
John Franco has been better than he's been in more than 5 years. He has been
getting save after save after save (one bad outing in the past 3 or 4 weeks).
Hitting has been good, if not great. Bernard Gilkey ios finally waking up
from a two month slump, which will help immensely. I hate having Everett lead
off (seems all he evr does is strike-out, double, or hit a home-run; i've
never seen him single) -- but Alfonzo has been great, and Olerud has been out
of this world.
I'll tell you though; the Mets are a whole load of fun, but awtching the
Yankees slide in the opposite direction (with Petite blowing a 6-run lead) is
just as sweet! :)
GO METS!!
