Come to think of it, we did have a fellow discharged from Basic.
He was gone in a real hurry. Like days, not weeks. If the
discharge is not through disciplinary action, they can be gone
in no time. I would not pretend to know what happened in any
individual case unless I was directly informed.

If we used a term for an aircraft carrier, it would be "Flat
Top". It's not like it was a common topic of discussion for us.
Then again, I was out 7 years before he went in.
The only one I saw in my entire tour of duty was the one that
had that major fire out in the Pacific, sometime between
'69-'71. The channel it went through to get to Pearl Harbor was
right off the street that went past our hangar. I was coming
back from lunch or some such when it went by. I was truly
impressed.
