Site of a number of big tanks of gasoline.  It's at the terminus of the
pipeline, where gasoline tanker trucks go to fill up before delivering the
fuel to the service stations.

ps:  I dunno if the pipelines were in place in 1965, the tank farms may
have been supplied in some other way back then.
