Understand, never caused any problems here either. But there is a small
problem in that folks don't read docs when you write them, so I just gave
up fighting it and removed the dependency on MSGAPI32.DLL.
I have offered the code up for sale before if someone wants to take on
the project and see it through. If you are interested we can probably work
something out (netmail on this please.) Be warned in advance though, the
code is written with BC++ for OS/2. I stayed as far away from Borlandism's
as I could but there were some things I couldn't get away from (which *are*
commented in the code, BTW.)

Jerry, it really is NOT that hard. Snoop through the EMX docs about
calling DLL functions and get familiar with it. Then get SQDEV200.* from
your favorite leech site. Scott documented MSGAPI *very* well.
It only takes 6 function calls--InitMsgApi(), CloseMsgApi(),
OpenMsgArea(), CloseMsgArea(), MsgOpenMsg(), MsgCloseMsg() and
MsgWriteMsg()--and preparatory work on one structure to write a message
with MSGAPI.
CM> Just need to find the time...
JM> That's easy, don't eat...
I can eat and write code at the same time, what I haven't figured out how
to do is write code for 5 different projects at the same time.
JM> I'm happy about the steady income, sorry about the
JM> shareware... Haven't people been registering their copies?
Yes folks have been registering. The problem is time, when a client calls
me in the middle of the evening with a problem they need fixed they want it
fixed
*NOW* not when I can take a break. They are paying the bills, quite
handsomely I might add, so I am obligated to take care of them first.
Besides, my shareware applications served their purpose; A stepping stone
into contract work, where I can make a living not an allowance. Don't take
this as the demise of MaxFile/PM, MUEd/PM Pro or the other
shareware/freeware projects. It is not that, it is just practical business
sense. The clients I have now are happy with my work, which in the end will
lead to more work. I'll have slack periods and when I do have them I'll
devote that time to working on the more leisurely aspects of what used to
be my hobby.
If we are going to carry this much further we should probably do so in
netmail, some of it is straying a bit off-topic.
See ya,
Craig
