JT>why not get the best of both worlds, and shoot a 10mm
If I could get a high capacity 10mm I would. Right now the only
available ones are the Glock 20 and a custom chambering built on a
Para-Ord frame. I had a S&W 1006, great gun, but I wanted a bit more
capacity for no other reason than to have it.
The Glock 20 is too limited of a design, I can't really crank out much
more from a 10mm and expect the Glock to function perfectly, I am not a
glocksmith. The Para-Ord would be nice, but I don't want to spend $1000
putting together a gun that I won't even have a ready supply of high
capacity magazines for.
For that matter, I'd get a P16-40 and bore out the chamber to allow a
greater OAL for the .40, making 10mm performance at Saami levels easily
attainable.
Personally, i want to formulate a chambering using a 7.62x39 case with
the neck trimmed off and formed to accept a 10mm bullet. The case would
be about as long as a .357mag, have lots more capacity than the 10mm, and
allow it to surpass the .41mag in terms of ballistics. Plus it's a
rimless case perfect for semi-auto, and even though the round would be
tapered, it'd be less so than the 9mm luger. No that's what I would call
a real 10mm! :-)
