visual basic of course, and that was written in cobol which, in turn was

written in fortran. fortran was written on the back of an old envelope

by a bunch of drunken engineers who broke into the computer room one

night after a very heavy porn and prawn night. once you realise that

that was the base of all, the reason for the fucking mess that we have

these days becomes clear (:

BV> Why do you think dBase was such a hit a few years ago. While

BV> crap with it but in most cases the end user doesn't know and

when it come to the down and dirty business of making a buck, the end

user doesn't give a shit if the product is written in sandskrit as long

as it does the job. you use the tools that work for you, hell i've even

known people make a living as "professional" clist
"programmers"! (sorry

mainframers in joke)

BL> I'm not saying that this is a bad idea - just an expensive one: a

BL> combined $600 compiler. Pascal is *nearly* an alternative to C, and it

BL> may be possible to learn just one language: Pascal and Delphi with

BL> dBase, and that's it! I can see why Frank wanted Delphi.

pascal is for poofs that need protecting from themselves, referencing a

null pointer is a character building exercise and provides endless

amusement for others. i'm against all this mollycoddling lets get back

to the old days when you could tell the bird with the big tits at a

party that you programmed computers, and she would coo "oo you must be

very clever", and when you modestly denied it she *knew* that you were

lying ;) now she probably writes in vb!
