"Sacred?"
Wrong on two counts, dummy.
This has nothing to do with original Boston Tea Party.
(Which BTW, was more of a drunken party than an actual protest.)
These are groups of people who protest government now.
In Washington DC last September 12, they wanted to dump a million tea bags
in front of the White House.
DC police said no.
As for the name, it's one *THEY* used themselves.
I've seen photos from tea parties showing protestors holding up signs
"Teabagging For Jesus." Or "Teabaggers, America's True Patriots."
Nowadays the Tea Party movement is starting fracture over squabbles among
their membership, one major target is the "Tea Party Express," which was
promoted so heavily by Fox news.
It's been used not for protests against Congress and the White House, it's
been used for republican campaign money.
I sure do hope you aren't this sloppy with the stuff you teach.
