Hi keith, KR> i've been freezing my arse off in a little place about 30 miles out of KR> boston mass (and i do mean litteraly freezing, the temp went positive 4 KR> times in 28 days!). Geezzz, it's a rough life but sombody's gotta do it, right :) KR> i have been using tc and bc++ for about 18 months, and find them KR> excellent, of course, the choice of compiler is just about as KR> objective as the choice of editor in most cases, :) KR> but i am happy with the product, That's the important part. I just bought BC++ 4.5 with Database Tools and the Visual Solutions Pack. At $359 it was a _steal_. The bummer is that v5.0 is being release next week. The good news is that my package has two free upgrades with it. What a bargain. If you don't already have a student card, then get one. Even if you have to beg, borrow or steal one (like I did ) and rush to your nearest Hardly Normal store and have them order it for you. The dealer price for that package is over $800 and they are selling it to dickheads who wouldn't know how to use it for only $359. That package also has 10 tons of printed documentation with it too. KR> i find owl better than the competition. I can't comment on that. The main reason I bought it was to finally get a legal copy of the Borland Resource Workshop and the controls. KR> i got an invite to the delphi launch last week, but wasn't able to go, KR> if i had thought about it sooner i'd have offered it to anybody who KR> wanted to go. all the reviews that i have seen (february byte has an KR> intro to it) have been very positive, Same here. Frank went. Bob lost interest when he found out that it required 128Mb of disk space and a CD-ROM to load it . Of course this was after I ordered and paid for his copy at the special price of $250. If you're interested I have _one_ only copy at that price. KR> but leave the doubt as to whether borland can compete with m$ KR> vb marketing machine. Hmmm...The fuckers don't include a Language Reference Manual with the package so all I can say is that they are learning...I'm going to be placing one _VERY_SHITTY_ phone call tomorrow, I can tell you. KR> anyway, it will be a while before i get back to programming - i got a KR> new toy, a flat bed scanner, and photoshop 3, so i'm busy feeding all KR> my old photos through it, guess i'd better try and "lose" one of the KR> scsi 9 gig drives at work (-: Wanna loose two ? :) Cheers, Brenton @EOT: ---* Origin: TestPoint (3:711/934.7) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
