subject: Kermit on TeleGard

Hi Sean, [Retrying my post of October 19]

About "Setting up Kermit protocol" of July 6 and "Pure DOS TelNet
ZMoDem" of October 16:

SD> Does anyone know if there's documentation about setting up the
SD> Kermit protocol with TG? ...I don't know how to write the PDF...
...
SD> ...wanting me to try to get Kermit running under my system again?
MS> Should you feel comfortable with the idea of switching to `MSK.INI',

MS> forced `C-Kermit' to load `CKerMod.INI' and the later was connecting

SD> Under OS/2, using SIO/VMODEM, everything uses comports... It's all

     Here i am! 8^) My 1st comment is that i DownLoaded `TGProt11.ZIP'
so that i can get an idea of what .PDFs are like. Essentially, it's the
same problem as with `SynchroNet' when i asked around on `DoveNet' for a
listing of the BBS's internal variables which can be used for installing
external protocol drivers. I'd need to install `TeleGard' over here but
i'd rather not; if i were to do it, i'd use Virtual Null-MoDem Cabling.

In the meantime, lets identify some of the options and variables if
possible: "-p", "~", "CP", "-b",
"CB", "-l", "CA", "-n",
"UF", "UL" and
"PF" - which is only a sample of what `CEXYZ.EXE' would be using... To
be honest, some or most of what is found in these .PDFs may very well be
specific to the protocol driver instead of your `TeleGard' BBS SoftWare.

In any case, i can't but notice the `DSZLog' Drop-File is supported
and hence i'm curious, all the sudden! Is there a BBS feature which can
tell the user how fast his transfers have been over the week (expressing
the recorded results in cps, for example)?... `Kermit' would allow this
should someone dare to try hard enough, i'd love to see the `ZMoDem' and
`Kermit' transfer rates displayed Side-by-Side in a public BBS bulletin!

                                  8^D

An other `TG' feature which got my attention is `Transfer.LOG', i'm
most concerned because .QWK BBS doors must never UpDate message-pointers
unless the user really received his message-packet in due form; if this
could help SysOps to benefit from `MS-Kermit's sturdiness i'd be glad...

                                    Salutations, ;^)
