I wouldn't want to have to use it day to day, but much like you I find the machine very interesting either because or in spite of its age, and I'm only a few years older than it. > thing for me is to get the goofy little tandy modem cable (dumb idea of thei > to make money). the thing doesnt have a RJ-11 modular jack, but instead a DI > connector, which u need to buy a cable to make into RJ-11. sigh. oh well. as > soon as i procure a method to connect it to my phone, i will attempt to dial > into here with it! lol. An easy enough cable / adapter to build. I put one together out of a DIN connector (can't remember how many pins it was) and a phone jack about a year ago. I happen to have the Tandy Acoustic Coupler 2 that works with the Model 100 / 102 and I think 200, and my adapter was part of a project to patch that coupler to other modems. If I recall correctly, there was a battery in there somewhere, too . . . I can't remember what became of that project. Best of luck getting that going and then connecting to something at 300bps. Whether that modem will be able to negotiate a connection with one of its "modern" counterparts (are there modern modems?) I couldn't say for sure. dm --- SBBSecho 2.11-Win32* Origin: electronic chicken bbs - bbs.electronicchicken.com (1:229/200) SEEN-BY: 10/1 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 222/2 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 SEEN-BY: 261/1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 393/68 396/45 SEEN-BY: 633/260 267 285 690/734 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 SEEN-BY: 2320/105 109 200 2905/0 @PATH: 229/200 426 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
