Yep! Now all I need to do is find a 10" or 12" barrel and I won't rue it
not being a .357max. I just spent about $150 on reloading components
from midway, I should be up to speed in a few weeks. Unfortunately, I
have to get loaded up in .40's for next weekend, an all day IPSC shoot.
Hope it's relatively cool out, I'll probably skip it if it's hot :-(
Anyway, I've got loading data from Vihta Vuori's 3rd edition (the hot
loads), so as long as I pay careful attention to OAL and work up
carefully, I think I'll be fine. They tested with a 7«" barrel, I've got
a 6" on now, and if I can get a 10" or 12" I'll really have a heavy duty
hunting gun. :-)
I still don't like the cylinder release's location, but the increased
frame strength, interchangable barrels and shorter stroke hammer more
than make up for the minor inconvenience. And it's double action!
Now all I have left to do is get the Savage 110 in .25-06 with a leupold
scope, and I'll have a complete battery.
After that it'd always be nice to get a contender with a few barrels, and
maybe a 300WBY for show... :-)
