Don't waste your time on this guy.  You've obviously shown yourself to be an 
intuitive and intelligent programmer.  More so than the guys who make the big 
bucks!  If this guy has a problem with date compatibility he should start by 
yelling at the people who charged him for incompatible programs!  The true 
Max faithful are, as always, greatful for everything you do.
