I know a great deal about hardware, and about computer system
security. It's my business to know.
Now, for your interest, this message from you is the first that
mentioned a _low-level_ format. The previous discussion referred to
the DOS FORMAT command, which does _not_ perform a low level format.
The /U switch is a switch on the DOS FORMAT command.
TV> Why are you attacking me about this? New meat in the echo?
No, you were making stupid statements that needed to be corrected. I
would not have said a word had you said "never do a low level format
on an IDE drive". Although not absolutely true (a low level format
can be safely done with the software _intended_ to be used with that
specific drive for that purpose), it is, in general, good advice.
But you did not make that distinction, and were replying to a
discussion about the DOS FORMAT command. And, in that context, you
were _wrong_.
TTFN. Rick.
