I wrote a letter to the Department of Motor Vehicles expressing my
discontent with the new style California Disabled Person Parking
Placards. In response, I got a phone call from Ms. Lucretia Day (DMV
- Sacramento) at 916-657-7654, who said she would send me a new
placard, since mine was damaged. Furthermore, she explained that some
sort of 'improved material' for the placards is in the works. Ms. Day
suggested that anyone needing a new placard write to the DMV, P.O.
Box
#932345, Sacramento, CA 94232. Mark the envelope ATTN: Special
Processing. If someone wants to suggest to the DMV what they can do with
their new style of placard, write to the same address but mark the envelope
ATTN: Public Inquiry. BTW, you can get a copy of the CA Vehicle Code by
sending a check for $3.00 to the same address, mark the check and
envelope, Request - Vehicle Code Book.
When I asked Ms. Day whether there had been many complaints about the new
placards, she said 'no.' It is my hope that this message will cause her to
change her response to that question.
