About that message on 10-11-97 from Ankur Gupta to Dave Hamilton:
DH>> I have no plans to port it from OS/2. I do however, plan to release
DH>> source code in the next release. Maybe someone will pick it up from
DH>> there.
AG> Hi Dave, congrats on writing Ngate, though you were a bit unfair with
AG> us poor dos/win95 users (poor cause we'r stuck with it)!
Unfortunately I didn't have any say in the Win API or in the Winsock
interface. OS/2 was the ideal platform, and the programs work well. One
of the 3 ways of getting mail out through SENDMAIL got broken with Warp
4.0 and I have not addressed that, as there are other ways to export
mail. (mGate)
AG> Well anyway,
AG> is it possible for someone having the source code to make a dos/win
AG> version ?
When I do the public release of mGate and nGate I will announce it in
MAXDEV and ask Gary to hatch it. They will both be freeware upadated
versions. Some of the nGate code is already public domain, having come
from GNU ports of *nix software. Someone more familiar with Windows
internet programming than I am ought to be able to do something with it
but it is a lot of work and I would not necessarily expect to see it as
freeware.
Look for this late in November or early December. I am in the middle
of a major move.
Best,
dave
