If all you're getting is bruises they're being VERY gentle with you.
Even small Amazons, (Mexican Red-heads, Lilac Crowns, Yellow Cheeks) can
do some serious damage if they're really mad.  When I got my Lilac Crown
(Wild as a buck from the INS auction) he bit big chunks out of oil-field
gloves!  My Yellow Cheek could bite 110volt power cords off at the plug!
(and DID!)  While they were hot!  I was shocked! Apparently he was NOT!
