Definitely not.  "Blain et al" has an example Phone app that does
it the good way, with multiple threads and messages that get posted, and
semaphores to protect things.  The book comes with a disk with source code,
so picking that one up should start you off quickly.

"Orfali & Harkey" (both titles, if I remember correct),
"Blain et al" and "Mastrianni" did get good reviews in
