MP> Yep. Plenty of misdiagnoses.
And then you have those who are reluctant to call it ADHD and want you
to spend months of therapy before they will say anything. In the meantime
your child is suffering.
Hi, Mark. Haven't had time to post much lately. My insurance kicks in
on the first and Jeremy and I are extremely excited over it. With
Jeremy's sleep disorder we have not decided whether this could be the
cause of all his symptoms, but it is approaching soon.
Since I homeschool, I found this year to be extremly difficult for him.
Symptoms of distractions, fidgeting, daydreaming, not remember what is
being taught from hour to hour or what he read a few minutes before and
the dreaded uncontrolled temper (which by the way he handles at times)
are getting worse. I see the symptoms so well this year. I suppose it
has alot to do with educating myself too.
I do know that sleep disorders can mimic ADHD, but I also know it runs
on both sides of the family so more than likely this is just an added
disorder. He is trying to compesate for some like read out loud when he
can't get his head to concentrate and timing himself out or taking
several deep breaths when his temper gets the best of him. Sometimes
he decides he needs to drink tea or coffee and that use to help, but
isn't doing much now.
His intelligence with mechanical things as well as computers are extremely
high. He has a love for playing Diablo on the internet. I just love
knowing this as it is a great tool for me. He actually is a pretty good
kid. He installed a game, found it had a naked body on it and erased it
immediately and surprisingly told me about it so I could help him remember
not to imstall it again. This child is quite amazing.
I really think at this point medication is a good option. I hate to see
the struggling with everything. Talk at ya later.
